The testing problem
The only way to reduce the mortality rate of cancer in canines is to catch it much earlier, before cancer has the time to mutate and spread. The process must be radically simpler, easier, and cheaper in order to allow veterinarians’ patients to be tested serially and repeatedly.
Creating this breakthrough is why we exist.
The breakthrough
The story of Vetabolics started over 20 years ago when our chief scientist asked a simple question… how do dogs smell cancer? What exactly are they smelling? Could we develop a method to detect the “smell” of specific types of cancers?
We answered that question by putting a team together of medical researchers and computer scientists. We have built a patented machine learning model that analyzes urine run through a gas chromatograph to test for the chemical signatures of specific types of cancers.
The results are exceptionally promising, and will drive the next generation of cancer detection and earlier therapy.
A reliable test for everyday practice.
Performance
“Canine Cancer” is a multitude of distinct diseases. What will make Vetabolics a breakthrough is the ability to non-invasively test for specific types of cancer with high sensitivity and specificity.
Non-Invasive
A few drops of voided urine are all we need in order to test for specific types of cancer. By utilizing voided urine, we have significantly reduced friction in the sample collection process, which drives greater adoption and success.
Economics
In order for this to be a technology for all dogs, the cost of cancer detection must be radically lowered. That’s exactly what we have done. Through innovation and disruptive technology, we have created a pricing model that fits within the budget of more veterinarian clients.
